Local Family Planning Services

If you wish to attend a local family planning clinic for contraception, please click here for further details on how to request an appointment.

Contraceptive Pill / Patch / Vaginal Ring

If you have had a review of your pill/patch/ring within the last 2 years at our Practice, you can submit a request for a prescription online by clicking here

If you have not had a review within 2 years or are a new patient to our Practice, please book a telephone appointment with one of our Physician’s Associates, the Practice Pharmacist or any GP. It would be helpful if you could provide a recent weight and blood pressure reading during the appointment (from a home reading or attend the surgery to use the machine in Reception).

Contraceptive Injection (Depo-Provera/Sayana-Press)

Please book an appointment with the Practice Nurse to discuss starting this or to arrange an appointment for your next injection.

Sayana-Press is an alternative to Depo-Provera that is self-administered. Please watch this video for information on its administration

If you would like this, please book a telephone appointment with the Practice Nurse to discuss further.

Contraceptive Implant (Nexplanon)

For more information about the Implant, please read information about the implant here and watch this video

If you would like to discuss any issues with your current Contraception Implant, please book a telephone appointment with any GP. Please note that we do not currently fit or remove Implants at the surgery.

Intrauterine Contraception

If you are interested in having the IUD (copper coil) or IUS (Mirena coil) please read the information on the IUD device here and on the IUS device here and watch this video

If you would like to discuss any issues with your current IUD or IUS, please book a telephone appointment with any GP. Please note that we do not currently fit IUDs or IUS’s at the surgery.

IUD Removals:  If you have the IUD or IUS currently and would like to have it removed, we can do this at the practice. If we remove the coil then you can of course become pregnant. Please ensure you have other contraception already in place for a week (not condoms) or abstain for a week, PRIOR TO YOUR REMOVAL APPOINTMENT unless you are hoping to get pregnant. You can book an appointment with Dr Rachel Ibberson who can do this in a routine 10 minute appointment. If you need advice on contraception do watch the video and then discuss this with a clinician.
