Contraception

For information on your choice of Contraceptive options, please check out:
https://www.contraceptionchoices.org/
https://www.sexwise.org.uk/

Contraceptive Pill / Patch / Vaginal Ring

If you have had a review of your pill/patch/ring within the last 2 years at our Practice, you can submit a request for a prescription online HERE.

If you have not had a review within 2 years or are a new patient to our Practice, please book a telephone appointment with our Physician’s Associate Saj, or any GP. It would be helpful if you could provide a recent weight and blood pressure reading during the appointment (from a home reading or attend the surgery to use the machine in Reception).

Contraceptive Injection (Depo-Provera/Sayana-Press)

Please book an appointment with the Practice Nurse to discuss starting this or to arrange an appointment for your next injection.

Sayana-Press is an alternative to Depo-Provera that is self-administered. Please see the following video link for information on its administration: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hi2o-mlQJjc

If you would like this, please book a telephone appointment with the Practice Nurse to discuss further.

Contraceptive Implant (Nexplanon)

If you would like to have a Contraceptive Implant fitted, removed or changed, please book a telephone appointment with Dr Coton, Dr Curtis or Dr Ibberson and they can arrange an appointment for the procedure in a designated clinic.

Prior to your telephone appointment, please read information about the implant: https://www.sexwise.org.uk/contraception/contraceptive-implant and watch the video below or via this link.

Intrauterine Contraception

If you are interested in having the IUD (copper coil) or IUS (Mirena coil) please read the information on https://www.sexwise.org.uk/contraception/iud-intrauterine-device and https://www.sexwise.org.uk/contraception/ius-intrauterine-system and watch the video below or via this link.

Following this, please book a telephone appointment with Dr Coton, Dr Curtis or Dr Ibberson to discuss further and they can arrange a fitting appointment with Dr Coton in a designated clinic.

UPDATE 16/9/20 **Please be aware that due to restrictions placed on us since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, there is currently a long waiting list for IUD/IUS fittings at WHMC. Our clinics have restarted but it may be quicker for you to arrange via the local sexual health & family planning clinics via https://www.sexualhealth.cnwl.nhs.uk/london-services/ or by calling 020 3317 5252**

If you have the IUD or IUS currently and would like to have it removed, please book a telephone appointment with Dr Coton, Dr Curtis or Dr Ibberson, who will then arrange an appointment for removal. (The above waiting list information does not apply to IUD/IUS removals)

Local Family Planning Services

If you prefer, you can arrange for your IUD or implant fitting/removal at a Family Planning Clinic. Please check out https://www.sexualhealth.cnwl.nhs.uk/london-services/  for further details on how to request an appointment.
